Metaplace (WEB)

"Pretty much the ideal "game" I would have made. ... Lousy Areae beating me to it. :-)"

Neverwinter Nights (PC)

"One of my favorite games ever. The mod tools are a testament to what the power of player created content can achieve."

Half-Life 2 (PC)

"See: Half-Life. And really. We're talking about an FPS that has a fairly sizable amount of gameplay and a fairly good story. Huge props just for that."

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"I give EVE Online more respect than I do any other online game. It is intricate, varied, truly massive, totally community driven, and exceptionally well designed. I genuinely had a ton of fun playing it. The atmosphere is depressive, though."

Age of Empires II (PC)

"Tri-layered Cannon Tower walls. Enough said. Really though, AoE2 remains as my favorite RTS."

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC)

"What can I say? This has remained on top of my list for the greatest games I have ever played. I spent more time in this than I have in most MMOs I've picked up."

Galactic Civilizations 2

"Its... Pretty much Civ in space, and from a company I'm finding I have a lot of respect for. Very solid and a lot of fun - I've been craving some 4X goodness lately too."

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC)

"Great PvP/RvR, polished, stable, solid, tons of content, and a pretty fair PvE experience too. Sure, it doesn't reinvent the wheel or bring much new to the table, but what it does, it does very well."

Server: Magnus

Guild: Black Watch Militia

Characters:

Sciath, Level 17 High Elf Swordmaster — First time I've really played a tank - normally I roll healers. Its interesting, and a lot of fun, on the other side of the relationship.

Starsiege: Tribes (PC)

"Fast-paced and surprisingly deep. Classic."

Rome: Total War (PC)

"I started with Medieval Total War and followed into Rome, which was by no means a disappointment. The Total War series is a fantastic series and I need not say more."

PlanetSide (PC)

"The game has seen some changes. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. Still, at its core, PlanetSide was a great idea... that was pulled off pretty well. The fights were epic, tons of fun, and unlike any other game I've played before"

Guild: The Vindicators

Neverwinter Nights II (PC)

"Certainly not a bad game, but it just wasn't as good as the former. The tools seemed to be a bit more than what people could handle and that really slowed down new modules coming out as well."

Mass Effect (X360)

"The only 360 game I own... ... And I don't own a 360!"

Everquest II (PC)

"I enjoyed EQ2 well enough at launch. I ended up coming back later and found an even better game than before. SOE may get flack for 'screwing up games', but honestly, this is a prime example of how they can do the opposite of that quite well."

Server: Oasis

Guild: Aurora

Lord of the Rings Online (PC)

"It seemed to capture the whole "Lord of the Rings" feeling well enough. Its clear that they kept the books in mind. It actually feels moderately epic as well, and the quests seem pretty well written."

Server: Firefooot

Characters:

Sciath, Level 17 Elf Guardian —

Half-Life (PC)

"Its Half-Life. What more do I really need to say?"

Final Fantasy XI Online (PC)

"I never know if I should give props to FFXI when I talk about it, or condemn it. This time is no different."

Everyday Shooter (PS3)

"I hate those lousy eyes. I love the game though, even if I'm not particularly good at it."

Dark Age of Camelot (PC)

"Ah, my first MMO. While its age is showing these days, it still holds up pretty well in its fun-factor. I went back to it not long ago - as I occasionally do with MMOs - and still found it enjoyable. Its just all about the Classic servers these days."

Server: Bedevere

Guild: The Albion Conflux

Freelancer (PC)

"I never thought I'd like using a mouse (well, trackball!) and keyboard to pilot a ship in a space sim quite this much. Great controls, amazing online play - wish I had gotten into it sooner."

Jade Empire: Special Edition (PC)

"A beautiful game with an amazingly good story. This is actually one of my absolute favorite BioWare games, only hindered by a somewhat clunky and very poorly balanced combat system."

WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC-MAC)

"I honestly just didn't care for it. Heroes seemed to powerful and it just didn't mesh well with my style of RTS gameplay."

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

"I was the Site Manager for Vanguard over at WarCry. In a way, the game was closer to being great than it seemed, I think. It was just buried under a sea of bugs and performance issues at release. Given more time and polish, maybe..."

Guild: The Arcanum Literati

Characters:

Ariku, Level 35 Raki Disciple — You know, this class was a ton of fun, too.

Star Wars Galaxies (PC)

"DAoC was my first MMO, but my introduction to online communities and MMOs happened in December 1999 with the SWG forums. The pre-release of this game was profound for me... And I'll be NWW forever. ;-)"

Characters:

Aduro Arra'kiv, Bothan Smuggler — I stopped playing before there were levels. I was a master smuggler with some into medic and pistoleer.

Second Life (PC)

"Second Life is worth a run through. I found it to be rather interesting and its another testament to how much content can be created by other players. This isn't really a game though. However, there are games within it. That's pretty neat on its own."

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC)

"Morrowind is one of my favorite games. Morrowind this was not. Oblivion was still a fine game... but it had an artificial feeling world that I just couldn't get into. Just heading out into the world was less rewarding than it should have been."

GunZ (PS)

"They let me run along walls, slash people with swords, and shoot people in the face with a shotgun. Within a 3 second period. If it wasn't for the awful network code, it would have been pure joy. Also, people who die to dagger users fail."

City of Heroes (PC)

"The Dark Fedora may no longer ensure the safety of the fair city, but CoH is still a fairly fun game. The character creator alone is worth hours of entertainment."

Adventure Quest (C64)

"What can I say, it was handy when I was bored, didn't have much time, and there was a lack of gaming otherwise easily obtainable. Pretty much the purpose of it, right there."

Achaea (MUD)

"This was my first MUD, I do believe. I played it before they became Iron Realm Entertainment. It wasn't to shabby, but I ended up enjoying Lusternia - same company - more."

The Matrix Online (PC)

"Beta only for this. I'd play for two days, then forget I had it for two weeks. Then I'd play for two days, and forget I had it for two weeks again. That happened until release. No idea why, but I couldn't justify paying for 4 days a month."

Halo: Combat Evolved (XBOX)

"I will state that I am one of those few people who just doesn't understand why Halo is so popular. Then again, I played it first on a PC, maybe that's part of it. But, I just didn't like the story and thought the gameplay was generic."

Dungeons and Dragons Online (PC)

"I only Beta'd this game. DDO is not bad, exactly. Part of it was the mindset of players, part of it was the design, but I just don't like finding myself doing the exact same instance over, and over, and over..."

Assassin's Creed (PS3)

"I generally enjoy sandbox environments, and I do in AC as well. Regardless, while I haven't actually played to far, the game has a certain hollow feeling to it that I hope will eventually fade away."

Anarchy Online (PC)

"One of the earliest Sci-Fi MMOs. It had some neat ideas, but it just never hooked me. I do find what I hear about their community to be pretty impressive, however."

Hellgate: London (PC)

"I only Beta'd this one, but thought that it was decently fun. I just couldn't warrant paying for the box though."
